People ask me alot about how the game will operate for Wastelanders.
Wastelanders are a "sandbox" faction. This means that they don't have a mission system of their own. It also means that no two wastelanders are officially on the same side.
in fact, the every wastelander is essentially his OWN faction.
How will this work?
First you have to understand how the wastelander will fit into the game.
Before the game begins, every wastelander will go "Stake a claim" to their "house."
This can be any room of any building that is not pre-assigned by the game director.
You will stake your claim by using a marking flag that is marked with your player number.
(You will not be allowed to sabotage another players marking flag by moving it, defacing it, destroying it, etc. )
After you have staked your claim, you will go get your lock box and any items you wish to have on the field for the game once the combat portion begins. You will place them in your house and prepare for game on.
At Game On:
When the game starts, you will start AT your house. You'll move into the world to start your day to day life in Berger Settlement.
You can choose to venture out into the wastes to hunt for salvage, you can go fight super mutants or raiders, you can ask around town looking for work, or you can go get involved in the war between the Enclave and the Brotherhood of Steel.
You can also choose to get involved with some of the other factions. The Raiders, the Traders, The Talon Co Mercs, The Lawbringers and even both warring military factions the Enclave and BoS all have missions and jobs that they will send prospective recruits on to test their capabilities.
If you succeed, you will earn favor with that faction and start to advance in their organization. If you make it to the top, that organization will make you an honorary member and give you their faction patch. That patch will be like a membership card for any of their faction facilities, including hopsitals or other private resources that they might establish.
Once you're in:
Every faction leader is on a story line that he's trying to advance. He can't advance his story until he meets certain objectives. If he meets his objectives by end of segment, he gets a different, more favorable set of objectives in the next segment than if he fails.
Once you are a part of the organization, you can be let in on whats really going on inside the organization, what the goals are, and what that faction is really trying to achieve. This is sensitive information and should be guarded.
Losing Favor:
If you betray an organization you are working for, you will lose your status with them. This means that you will forfeit your faction patch that you earned
Betraying a faction could mean getting caught stealing from another faction member, attacking or killing another faction member, doing too much work for a declared enemy of your faction, etc.
Hopefully this sheds some light on how you will interact and work with other factions as you play a Wastelander in OP: Aftermath 2.
