Players must earn caps on their own by completing missions, selling things they find, or providing a service to others.
Faction Leaders are always looking to recruit you into their cause, usually by offering caps for missions/quests.
Some people are looking for particular items to complete a project, or make a trade
Usually you can find work with just about any faction.
If working for caps is not really your cup of tea, you may also obtain them by looting from player's wounded and dying bodies as well as inside player houses or other buildings.
The typical loot limit for Caps is 5 caps. When looting a bag of caps, reach in and blindly and grab them up. You may cull your handful to the highest value caps and leave the rest, but do not expect players to let you browse their bag for their best caps. This takes too much time and delays the game.
When looting the caps in a dwelling or other building, you may take 5 caps from a stockpile in the same manner. Caps left in the open may be looted 5 at a time as well.
Raiders possess a faction bonus of looting 1 additional cap.
